THE TESTIMONY AND JUDGMENT
1. THE CONTRADICTION OF CHRISTIAN WITNESS
The testimony, the word that best approached the people of God to the idea of the testimony was the pact, statute and judgment, the etymology of the word we call testimony today comes from the Romans who in their judgments were sworn to their witnesses swearing to tell the truth by his testicles, so the Latin word come from witness testimony and "testicle" the risk of living by the truth or lose the ability to inheritance and survival of your name.
Christians talk a lot about taking care of our testimony, but when we say this generally understand that concern us as we look to others, ie make the judgment that the rest of us as Christians because we understand that we are or should be an example to world of our being in Christ.
We in the words of Jesus are "the light of the world", we are "the salt of the earth" and even Paul encouraged the churches to keep a behavior worthy of our Lord Jesus Christ to be examples and models for Greek society, Roman and Jewish , this however is something shocking when compared with history. For the testimony of Jesus is to be Christian as if seen so paradoxical or contradictory, I'm not saying there is ambiguity in the message but misinterpretations, first to give an example as Latin Americans start understanding that we are a culture usually find something malicious seconds intentions at all, an example is when we hear that someone has been killed, we do not think, poor guy! Poor family!, Not immediately but we do not know "something must be done" on the premise "think wrong and you will succeed" in the churches is said that if a Christian brother calamity befalls him immediately seek a cause poor Sibling relationship with God, "sin was" obviously have not read Job or simply discarded, which is why I keep thinking in the testimony of Christ our Lord, when we see him crucified between two thieves If we lived in his time should we not have said: What has he done?.
2. THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS SCANDALOUS
The popular idea of witness is the public image of a Christian or a Pastor's how others see an example of blameless person, incorruptible and seamless monolithic in their behavior, as I live in Sucre I keep thinking about this when in times approaching elections to rural and poor neighborhoods, political rows with posters of his face on posters everywhere similar to those once used justice to catch criminals with the slogan "WANTED" Well now say " John Smith, Vote for your best choice, " every kiss, embrace and everyone laughs, his image with the people is` people examples for society, great leaders, but in his political life is something else behind the scenes.
Jesus called those in public life showed great piety and religiosity, but that their actions hidden ulterior motives "Hipocritai" two sides,(Matthew 23: 1-36 Jesus addresses the Pharisees and their customs that sometimes recall the customs of some Christians too "pious" but their actions do detestable things. And to all those who are very religious but saved two sides.) with examples went to the Pharisees and publicly confronted by this fact to care their public image while doing things detestable, the paradox is that while tending their public image also talked about the public image of Jesus as this was not true to the customs of religious piety, Matthew is more his actions were constantly because of scandal:
• Not keeping the Sabbath as a day of rest. (Not a good Adventist)
• spoke publicly with women and men of dubious reputation. (Not a Blessed)
• people ate at home recognized for being corrupt. (Zacchaeus, simon)
• drank wine and enjoyed eating. (The Pharisees were fasting, Jesus and his disciples did not)
• He accepted among his disciples strange people, armed with swords,
• He healed the servant of the Roman invaders and imperialists
• and finally cast the money changers out of the temple, the poor vendors who served in selling animals for sacrifice of redemption,
The gospel is not just the parables of Jesus are also his deeds and actions, the paradox of Christian witness is that it has nothing to do with the testimony of the secular world, for Jesus is not as important to speak well of you, like you to be true to your convictions or your love to him, "Blessed are you when people insult you insult them because of me and say all manner of evil, telling lies, Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, also did to the prophets before you "This beatitude speaks of a very different testimony as cause not speak well of you, but you are because of scandal, Jesus himself was a stumbling block (that means Scandalon), This is a reference the first stone laid in a construction and that was great and always to stumble that went to a house but paid attention, it was called "Scandalon". And that was Jesus to the Pharisees and to the world, collided with him, even today Christians collided with Jesus, Paul, a Pharisee of Pharisees taught at the feet of Gamaliel wrote to the Roman Christians speaking of righteousness by faith and not by actions of law mentioning this text:
As it is written: "Behold, I place in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock fall, and he that believeth on him shall not be ashamed"
3.JUICIO, CONVICTION AND TESTIMONY
Brothers personally in my testimony as a Christian, I kept myself from doing only what by faith in Christ I believe in doing good, but not always what the world thinks it's really good. The Christian witness is mostly defined as a covenant with God, a sign to keep his statutes and obey God usually be against the precepts of the world, eye'm not talking about morality but of spirituality and ethics. The talk of morality from the Latin "Moris" usually refer to the habits and actions of a place, custom of the inhabitants of a place, according to their context or breeding and housing. The customs or moral will vary according to where you live, and what is good in one place, I could be wrong in another, the Romans spoke with some flexibility with this proverb "When thou goest site, do as the Romans" on the other hand Ethics are a set of principles inherent in human being imposed as external standards are shaped by the society but in the mind of each and is based on not doing to others what you do not want for yourself, and in another positive direction, do to others as you want it done. Our covenant to live life as Jesus is not a religion is a choice of life, out of liturgies and cultic elements is in the community where living is living testimony the reality of life, but not the same and conviction and social exclusion something Jesus would not accept.
In testimony is closely linked Judgment, not judging others but judge yourself. Jesus refused to be put as a judge and divider, promoted forgiveness and judgment not in a condemnatory and exclusionary but to discern between good and evil, and as a way to encourage the Christian to live a happier life in community.
4. WITNESS; TRIAL AND FORGIVENESS
A clear illustration of this is an obsession of enforcement "Moses" by the Pharisees and of the people when they find a woman caught in adultery, ie relations with another man other than her husband, saying the law of levirate the couple man and woman caught in adultery should be stoned by all the people to remove the sin of the community. They carry the woman alone (Where is the man who committed adultery with her?) And lead to possibly have jostled and beaten and humiliated, and the Gospel of John tells us that the people have cravings for law enforcement but more desire to see what Jesus does, require confronting Jesus with the law, "Moses said we should stone such as What will you say?" the stoning or not?, the suspense is evident, the fame, the testimony precedes Jesus, a man who refuses to make judgments but to forgive, confront him with a written law hard and inflexible, unmoved condemning this woman, she was guilty and no doubt all the crowd fingers pointing position accuser, the woman in this story has been relegated to a secondary role, is recognized sinner and asks for mercy, the position of the woman is the object, the target of violence woman whose testimony is declared invalid. Jesus remains indifferent, ignore all, by refusing to make a judgment of conviction is against the "word of God" John's Gospel puts you wrote on the ground while the accusers will require trial, imagine their thoughts: "Jesus, you know she did wrong, you know she was surprised by us, you know that the law says, and is clear, she must die, accept it, say it, say it out, judge for yourself "they feel they are right, Jesus did not disagree with this because they do, she is guilty, but instead of condemning judgment they expect, or refutation of the law even more eager to accuse him, Jesus shifts the trial prosecutors, says literally "he who is without sin cast the first stone "... The testimony of women, as human as the people of God had been destroyed, was guilty. The trial of his accusers, his own testimony was now under scrutiny, their own judgment, Jesus forces them to self examine their testimony. The Gospel illustrates, one by one from the oldest to the youngest leave the place and let the stone, his own conscience accuses them were finally alone Jesus and women, who had been relegated in their own judgment, there Jesus before her stands the dignified and Where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you? -None Lord. -I do not condemn you, go and sin no more.
An extraordinary example of the testimony of Jesus, even against the obsessed to fulfill the law, He shows that there is something more valuable than public displays of religiosity, to be the avenging hand of God. A
friend once taught me that we often blame others and point a finger gesture, and forget that when the finger points to someone there are three fingers pointing your own hand you.
The judgment against "fair" to the woman indicates the ability to be "fair" to the accusers, but his own testimony was hypocritical and do some honest soul to be seen in the interior mirror, they realized that they had no basis to judge when the accused guilty conscience.
The testimony is a sign of our relationship with God, just before it and face the answer for our actions, we can fool the world and even the closest, appear great piety, apparently the most holy and pure, and we can still fool self justify our actions, but He did not, so my actions lead me to self examine me, to see my testimony before the one to which I can not cheat, who fear find face to face, to which I must answer for my actions, because to not be worth the my excuses and tell you now, look at your heart How is your testim
